  • Managed sequencing facility that serviced the Oncology Department. Developed curriculum and
    instructed members of the Department in several sequence analysis software packages. Responsible for
    genotyping mouse cell lines used in Oncology’s cell-based assays and for identifying p53 mutations.

Research Scientist I, October 1992 to July 1996
  • Demonstrated the advantage of automated DNA sequencing for Molecular Biology Department, thus
    justifying the establishment of a core DNA sequencing facility. Provided necessary training, equipment
    and personnel to create a DNA sequencing service that included data analysis, primer design, and
    database searching.  Provided support for numerous relational databases.  Hired and trained Associate
    to take over operation of oligonucleotide synthesis facility.
Associate Research Scientist II, January 1991 to October 1992
  • Managed, operated, and maintained oligonucleotide synthesis laboratory.  Developed expertise in
    relational databases to organize oligonucleotide inventory, then created and supported numerous
    databases throughout the Department.  This includes a database that is critical to the operation of our
    Transgenic Facility, and which has also been adopted throughout BMS and is in use in other
    pharmaceutical companies.

  • Established DNA Synthesis Facility to meet the needs of new 60 member Molecular Biology Department.  
    Trained and supervised Associates to work independently.  Responsibilities include all aspects of
    laboratory operation.
